Homeport is a bike and e-bike sharing service that is being piloted in Prague’s booming Karlin district. With several solar-powered stations around the neighborhood, the service offers state-of-the-art electric bikes fitted out with GPS and other smart features including customizable engine profiles. Bikes can be parked either at real or virtual stations. Memberships are available through the website or app for a day (CZK 200/bike) a week (CZK 800/bike) or a year (CZK 450/bike).
“A very important thing about bikesharing is that it can help make cycling be seen as a normal thing… There are few things that are as 100% positive as this. Obviously it’s healthy, it’s ecological, it makes the air better and reduces congestion. There’s almost nothing you can think of which is negative about it.” – Charles Butler, director and founder of Homeport
